Our sympathy, condolences and prayers go out to the families of the brave Dallas police officers that were gunned down last week.

In light of what took place in downtown Dallas Thursday evening, it is time for all of us to re-evaluate our involvement in the community around us. We cannot simply sit idly by and let lunatics with guns inflict pain and suffering, and then dictate how we live our lives. We must find the time (in our otherwise too busy lives) to reach out to others, no matter what the race, so that we can build and strengthen our communities and not allow events like these to accentuate fear and hate.

One way to get involved now, is to fully support the police officers in your community. They risk their lives on a daily basis to keep the peace and provide the quality of life we enjoy. Let them know you care and that you are praying for them. As we pull together behind these men and women, we will also feel a stronger sense of community.

Finally, all of us in the Christian community must be praying for healing and reconciliation for our country. This is a time for Christians to step up and lead this healing and reconciliation. We also need to pray for police officer’s discernment in the most difficult and stressful situations, and pray that they are trained and prepared effectively to make the right decision when lives are on the line.

In His Name,
