Safe Haven and Camp Liz My niece Sarah came for her annual stay with me that I fondly call "Camp Liz". She comes for a few days every summer. I look forward to her visit. She is now a teenager and I am honored that she still makes time for me.
Sarah has always had a heart for service and will accomplish great things. She worked in the store for a couple of days, then we decided to drive to Fort Worth to check on Mr.Brennen (see blog on necklaces). We found Mr. Brennen at Safe Haven. He had several necklaces ready for purchase---left over yarn, old socks, and elastic from men's briefs made into hearts and crosses. This time we left him with some colored hemp for his crafts!
We met Preston at the Presbyterian night Shelter. He had an awesome story of salvation and healing. He is on the road to a great life. Preston runs the store room. He shared with us the great need for razors, lotion, but most of all for feminine pads. I guess that is not a popular item for donation.
I know this day touched Sarah, and I also know that she will choose to be part of the solution. What a complicated life we lead. Sarah and I had a manicure and pedicure----visited our friend in a homeless shelter-----then lunch at our favorite burger joint!
Both sides of the tracks in one day---but maybe not maybe it was all on the right side of the track---God's track. We were on "Holy Ground" . Blessings, Liz July, 14, 2007
